Infectious diseases are highly contagious diseases which make an individual uncomfortable but while symptoms of some diseases subside with time others can be chronic and require lifetime treatment. Hence it is mandatory that they be detected at an early stage and treated immediately. Although all infections have their specific symptoms, some of the common ones to detect any affection are Fever, coughing, fatigue, diarrhea and muscle aches. Causes of infectious diseases are mainly bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites.

Chickenpox

Chickenpox is a very serious disease that can cause blisters all over the body which are very itchy. If scratched, the marks remain on the skin for a lifetime. The disease is communicable and can be spread by coughing, sneezing or contact with weeping blisters. The symptom is raging fever. Spots occur all over the body with blisters on top of each spot. It can last for an average period of 21 days.

Scabies

These are itchy rashes which are caused when one comes in contact with infected skin, clothes or bedding. Their symptoms are redness of the whole body with rashes that are very itchy. It takes almost 4-6 weeks to build only if not developed before.

Head lice (nits) –

This is a condition caused when one comes in contact with an infected person’s hair. The signs of this disease are itchy scalp, especially behind the ears. Treatment may be required because of these occasional scalp infections. These infections can be developed anytime and last till they are treated.

Influenza

In this disease, there is constant sneezing and coughing. Direct contact with infected person can also stimulate this disease. The symptoms of this disease involve sudden onset of high fever, with sore throat and cough. One can also experience headache and muscle pains during the same. This disease is detected within 4 days.

Conjunctivitis

This is a very common disease where one tends to have a swollen pink eye. It is usually spread when one comes in contact with the discharge of this infection or things contaminated by this discharge. The symptoms of this disease involve irritation or redness or the eye and discharge can be seen sometimes. It usually takes 2 – 10 days to develop.
